Expertly fermented 2024 material from the Jingmai area of Lancang county (Simao) was wet-piled and then pressed into this lovely 357 gram cake. This tea cake is pressed from un-graded tea leaves (meaning that after wet-piling the leaves were not separated by grade, so with this you are getting all the various leaf grades together). Light to medium fermentation (during wet-piling) gives this tea a strong taste which stays in the mouth after drinking. High quality material appropriate for longer term aging!

Art Terlep, the artist who created the wrapper illustration entitled the art ""La Théière de Méduse" or "Medusa's Teapot!"

Very smooth, way too smooth for my taste

"Very smooth, maybe a Many thanks to YS for showing me what a light to medium fermentation means in the taste :) I almost feel NO TASTE in this tea. It's very very smooth, too smooth I would say. I don't feel earthiness, I don't feel bitterness, I don't feel sourness, I don't feel sweetness. Almost nothing. For my taste is too smooth. But now I know that I like strong fermentation. I like many other YS ripes much more than this one. The review is based on the sample. bit too smooth"

Great release

"Vanilla on rocks, sweet, like a toffee with a hint of tobacco, funk (read cheese), hot wet rocks and wood, chinese herbal medicine, caramel. Great inoffensive daily drinker. No bitterness at all. Brew hard and long (30s-60s+ steeps). You get 6 good dark flavorful steeps out of it that way before it gets lighter. Left me petrified (pun intended)."

Delicious, excited to drink this in winter!

"Makes the lizard part of my brain happy. Ridiculously smooth! I get a lot of sweet slightly burnt carmel, light almost pandan scent (vanilla, coconut, and almond), and a rich thick liquor. Resinous, light smoke."

Spiffing!

"I had this tea the day it arrived 0 rest but it let me know how good this tea is even subdued due to 3 weeks of travell stress. Lovely texture and aroma, wood and vanila are very predominant with a forest floor type flavour in the background. The liquor smells really sweet. A bargain at this that takes a tea that should be drank on more special occasions to the daily drinker realm even for the budget minded individual. Would get a cale of this no question thanks for the sample YS!"
