Made entirely from first flush of spring material from the wild growing tea bushes with about 40 years age growing in Luo Shui Dong village near Yi Wu town in the Yi Wu Mountainous area of Mengla county (Xishuangbanna).

After picking the tea was wilted briefly, fried in a wok, rolled by hand and allowed to wilt for another 20 hours, before being naturally air dried.

Sweet, floral, fruity with almost juice-like viscous tea soup and lots of body. Very infusable tea that gives evenly across 7 to 8 rounds, and then gives way to a bit thinner and sweet from round 8 onward. A good choice for near term aging. Will improve in flavor for up to 5 years.

Incredible quality, service and value

"Absolutely wonderful tea of the highest quality and value. I also bought equipment which was also brilliant. Thank you."

Wonderful in the morning!

"This is my second favorite tea. Wonderful in the morning! Not evil, but awakens beautifully. This is the best tea I have ever tried. You drink it, and 10 minutes later you find that the world has become brighter. He's the only one who does this to me."

Notes of dark honey

"It has pleasant, mild notes of dark honey, but isn't at all sweet. It's good, but it's not about to supplant the Black Gold Bi Luo Chun as my go-to black."

this tea has a lovely, warm, chocolate flavor note

"A delight to your day! When I am searching for a yummy black tea, I type in the search box "chocolate" and this tea has a lovely, warm, chocolate flavor note. I'm so grateful to get these delicious teas that bring joy and pleasure to my life, so affordably."

Bright and easy to drink

"I drank this grandpa style using a ratio of 2grams tea to 100ml water. I steeped 6g in 300ml of water for 3min and poured it. The result is a deep red brown color and I get a miso soup type aroma on the nose. I get some floral notes in the flavor with some of that miso coming through to a clean finish and a bright very pleasant after taste. I can get about two steeping's this way, the second is lighter in color but I think I enjoy the flavor more."

This is amazing ... if brewed the right way

"The dry and wet leaves have a really strong aroma of dried plums. The brewed tea is very sweet and fruity. It does not have this darker flavour you would expect from a black tea. Nice "prickly" mouthfeel with absolutely no astrigency. I received this tea with my order although I did not actually order it. Thus, customer support kindly offered it to me for half the price. I am very happy about this incident as this is one of my favourite teas I ever got from YS. I understand the previous reviews that it was not very intense. This is true. It does not have this bold black tea taste that you might be used to. Also the flavour of the tea liquor can be very weak if brewed like you would normally brew black teas. I brewed this gonfu style with my usual parameters and it was not very good. Western Style it was even more boring. But if you adjust your brewing parameters to suit the tea it gets amazing. I brewed 7.5g per 80ml (actual amount I got, brewing vessel is larger) and 90°C water with steeping times starting at 30sec and adding around 5sec each subsequent infusion. This way it was amazing. In my opinion the price to quality ratio is really good. Due to the medium price and large amount you have to use I would not drink it on a daily basis. But it is perfectly suited for a mindful session or drinking with friends. I already had many of the rather popular black teas from YS but this one is my favourite so far. (Although the comparison might not be fair as it is very different from a typical black tea)"

This Yiwu Assamica was slightly

"This Yiwu Assamica was slightly disappointing to me. It has a decent flavor and aroma profile but not as deep as I prefer. When I compare it to the Mengku Assamica, the Mengku wins. This will probably age well, though."

Good everyday tea

"Twisted leaves looking and smelling good. Wet leaves: brewed strawberry and raspberry leaves, woody, earthy, musty, honey. Tastewise the sweet woody notes are gentle and pleasant. No bitterness. Cooling assamica effect! :) Stronger noticeable when the water has cooled down. I can imagine that this tea would taste good as a coldbrew also."

Julia J. (3/5)

Solid daily drinker

"Only brewed twice but can see this being a daily drinker for me, did not find it too thick but enjoyed the sweet and mineral notes in balance."

Q&A

Is this a shai hong? Not cooked?
Not baked dry. Shade dried, so pretty similar to shai hong 晒红.
