Anxi grown Ben Shan Oolong was roasted for a total of 10 hours at a temperature of 60C.  This heavier roasting technique brings out the aroma and softens the green edge of this Ben Shan oolong.  Ben Shan with it's coarser (thicker) leaves takes well to longer roasting.  The roasting process allows this tea (if kept sealed) to age wonderfully!

Great tea

"Wonderful oolong tea. Taste and flavor. Will definitely order more soon"

Emphasises unroasted version's floral notes

"I find that this tea is an excellent example of how roasting an oolong can lock in or even emphasise a flavour profile or flavour characteristic. In this case, the floral character is definitely enhanced. The fruit character becomes a bit sweeter. Understandably, the freshness aspect is missing!"

Great Tasting But Basic Flavors

"This tea tasted great! No off flavors, no bad aromas, etc. It was amazing to brew gong fu style in my miniature ru yao celadon teapot that I got from YS as well. However, the only downside to this tea is that it doesn’t have any special flavors or notes. It is just one-sided."

You get what you pay for

"For this price it is hard to complain but I say paying more for better alternatives might be wise. It is pleasant to drink but also hollow. It reminds me of Dong Ding oolong on a surface level with none of the complexity. But, for the price, trying it out once is not a loss."

Good when steeped western style.

"I found the flavor to be lacking from the third steep on, but it makes an excellent milk tea when brewed western style and mixed with milk and sugar."

Calvin (5/5)

High quality tea

"Nice selection of tasty, aromatic, high quality tea."

Maryia P. (5/5)

Nice!

"I love a roasted oolong and this one is pleasant to drink and affordable enough to drink everyday."

Alice M. (5/5)

Well balanced

"Great balance of toasted flavour from the roast and the sweet and floral characteristics of the tea itself. Was pleasantly surprised, definitely one to order again."

Mustaqeem S. (5/5)

a nice discovery

"Really nice tea considering the price/quantity ratio! it tastes round and nutty, the roasting doesn't completely overdo the savour and it's over all pleasant to drink. It is not a revolutionary tea though, and it isn't even meant to be I think."

Wonderful and Toasty

"Very nice roasted flavor, surprising for medium roast because it tastes quite intense. Nice balance to it as well, overall one of my favorite oolongs."
