This lightly roasted tea is made from our Premium Grade Anxi Tie Guan Yin Oolong from Gan De village. The tea was roasted for about 6 hours at a low temperature of about 50C. This light roasting gives the Tie Guan Yin a softer, almost sweet taste to it. The light roasting also allows this tea (if kept sealed) to age wonderfully!

There is a slight milk aroma (nai xiang) that is present when brewed and is completely natural (a result of processing).

Tasty Old School Styled TGY for a Good Price

"My favourite TGY from YS - authentic tasting "old school" styled Tie Guan Yin Don't get me wrong, I love the more common grassy floral Tie Guan Yins, but the old school, more oxidized roasted ones just have more depth and are generally more exciting - providing a special taste that is hard to describe. Problem is, those old shool styled Tie Guan Yins are harder to get by, due to the popularization of the greener ones. As a result, the old school TGY tend to be pricy. This one however, is quite cheap and tastes authentic. Love it. PS: Light roast is key and is distinctively different from those heavy roasted Tie Guan Yins that are roasted to crisp - making you feel like drinking liquid charcoal (I actually like that too). This one still have the floral depth that greener Tie Gun Yins provide, but with a bit of extra."

Lightly roasted goodness

"I found the flavor and fragrance to be reminiscent of toasted seeds, but slightly sweeter, so almost a nutty sunflower seed, cashew? It is delicious, that’s for sure."

Great!

"As a lover of Tie guan yin I had to try this tea. It does not disappoint. It has a good, delicate taste and can be poured over many times."

My current favorite oolong

"Not much else to say, really. I enjoy the mildly floral, lightly-roasted flavor. It's welcoming like jasmine tea, but without having to stand on the essence of some other plant to shore it up (heh). I enjoy it gongfu style, or almost as well infused in a 20oz thermos."
