Jin Guan Yin (金观音) is a cross between Tie Guan Yin and Huang Jing Gui! Young Huang Jin Gui tea bushes are cut and then Tie Guan Yin varietal is grafted with it. After 2 years the plant is producing this "Gold Guan Yin!”

The taste and aroma is very unique carrying with it the thick sweet after-taste of Huang Jin Gui (as well as increased infusability) but has the penetrating aroma and unique Guan Yin taste! There is a slight creamy almost milk aroma to it in early infusions!

Pleasant, Meditative

"Where can one go wrong with high quality Tie Guan Yin? Could drink this every day for the rest of my life."

Andrew M. (5/5)

Calming, Cozy, Complete

"I have only been drinking tea for a few months, but have tried around 50-100 teas thus far. Out of all I have tried, this is a definite favorite. The leaves are beautifully condensed and gorgeously green, watching them bloom as the tea brews is a truly magical experience. Yet the liquor that results from this is even more magical. The scent that flows forth is amazingly complex and the flavor of the tea delivers on that promise. I detect a variety of floral and vegetal smells, and taste deliciously sweet baking spices in addition. The liquor is thick with a full body. I brew all my teas gonfu style, and this one gives many steepings, ones that I can detect differences in- something I personally struggle to do. The cha chi is there, which is not the case for most teas personally. It’s calming, comforting, it soothes my soul. High focus. Warmth. Like a nice hug. Although it probably doesn’t have the most powerful cha chi, the strongest scents, the tastiest liquor, the prettiest leaves, the richest texture, it has by far the most exceptional overall package I’ve experienced. It’s completely unoffensive- nothing overwhelming or unlikable about it to my preferences. Everything about it screams comfort. A cohesive and complete package, balanced in all sense of the word. A perfectly pleasing package worth the price."

A powerful cousin to TGY

"I received this as part of the Anxi Oolong sampler and we loved it so much we ordered 100g of it. While it isn’t an inexpensive tea is is an excellent value. It is a bit less subtle than the Tie Guan Yin which we also enjoy at several grades. Major floral powerhouse with some exotic (to us) warming spices. Great body and long finish."

One of the best Jin Guan Yins

"Really good one. Personally love spring harvest more than autumn, but still very good."

Good quality tea.

"Good quality tea."

Delicate

"8g in 200ml. Quick rinse, rest 1 min. First infusion 30 sec, increasing to 2½ min for 7th. Significant drop in complexity after 5th infusion. Very smooth, not bitter or astringent. Buttery, light floral aroma. Delicate. On the green end of the oolong spectrum."
