This cake is pressed entirely from 2021 Spring harvested Yi Wu area tea that was wet piled in Menghai!  This is a tippy "Golden Needle" grade ripe.  It's very smooth and sweet, with some bittersweet character that reminds us of dark chocolate.  Bitterness is barely noticeable but acts as a counterpoint to the sweet velvety taste of this thick viscous tea.  This tea also carries some dried cherry and vanilla notes as well.

Pressed in late 2021 to commemorate the Year of the Tiger this lovely tea cake would be perfect for gifting during 2022 or stockpiling for aging.

Clean, smooth, complex, and aromatic ripe pu-erh tea that performs well beyond it's price tag!

Year of the Tiger Pu-ehr, great tea

"served it with a group at a tea party - it was the big favourite"

Fabulous shu

"This is a strong, thick tea even without using too much leaf. There is a nice coffee, almost dark chocolate, bitterness and while it's not too sweet, I found it became sweeter in later infusions with delicate berry notes too. It is a fantastic tea, especially for the price, that I will be reordering."

A good, solid ripe

"This ripe is easy to pick apart, with a smooth, creamy mouthfeel. It's definitely worth a try if you're new to ripes and don't want to start out with a huge cake."

Fruity vanilla forestfloor

"Sometimes it is thick as vanilla, sometimes it is fresh as fruit, although I don't know which. The loose pressing is practical. A bit filmy mouthtaste, in a strange way similar to oaked Chardonnay. And woodland earthy tones, as well as hints of animals, stables and old warehouses. Very well balanced"

Interesting

"Really thick tea, almost looks like syrup and has the color of strong black coffee. Personally your first time through with this one and it had a alpine pine forest vibe with a sweet 'dark chocolate' finish that snuck up on you a few seconds after you finished the sip. Over all very nice would recommend!"
