2020 was another spectacular year for YS teas especially ripe! Join us as we highlight some of the these great teas - Part 2. Experience the diverse characteristics of the villages and mountains we sourced our 2020 Ripe Pu-erh tea from! Taste a curated selection of samples from 2020 Yunnan Sourcing Brand Ripe Pu-erh Tea Cakes and develop an appreciation for the distinct aroma, flavor and mouthfeel of the teas we personally chose for our cakes.

Pu-erh tea is made from Yunnan large-leaf varietal of Camellia sinensis. It is typically processed into compressed cakes, bricks and tuos. Pu-erh is particularly special because it can be aged for decades or longer, always changing and (in most cases) developing more depth and texture. Ripe Pu-erh (熟茶) is fermented during a 40-50 day period under-going a mellowing process that changes the tea into something dark red-brown in color.

Yunnan Sourcing Brand was first produced in 2009!  We select the finest Ripe and Raw Pu-erh teas from Yunnan province and offer them to our customers at a very reasonable price. Our Raw Pu-erh tea productions are produced mostly from single village or mountain sources in small batches. All our raw cakes are processed at every stage in the traditional method to ensure the best possible long term aging outcome! Our ripe pu-erhs are selected based on their taste profile, fermentation degree, leaf quality and future aging potential!

A very good overview

"This is a nice way to get to know the YS offer for a year Teas supplied present good diversity in order to either have fun testing different products or to check and select your favorites for ordering a cake From the strong and oily bronze peerles, going on with the cozy woody and spycy year of the rat or the more traditional profiles of Bu lang and the rest. The first two were the ones that stood out as adding something special, but the whole experience was worthwhile. If you like ripe puerh or you want to try it is a no brainer"

YS 2020 Ripe Sampler pt 2

"These teas were all drunk grandpa style, roughly 5 grams per 300 ml cup. Excellent lineup of Ripe teas in this sampler. The Bronze Label Peerless is a delicious premium tea, thick, dark, slightly woody, and chocolatey. The year of the rat tea is complex and solid all around, with fruitness, and chocolate notes, the year of the "xxx" ripe didn't disappoint this year. Out of the group of Menghai area teas this year, the Meng Song, and Bu Lang Mountain have been my favorites, although each provides a unique flavor representing different regions. It was fun comparing and contrasting differences among each. The Nuo Mi Xian Ripe Pu-erh tea and Sticky Rice Herb is a really interesting tea, and I found myself enjoying the freshness and comforting aromas of sticky rice. If you're just looking for a simple and smooth ripe, this one likely won't be your favorite."
