This rare and beautiful tea is crafted from spring harvested leaves plucked from established plantation bushes in the Mojiang area of Simao. The tea is carefully processed to keep its lovely appearance and guard its subtle sugarcane and malt flavors. This is an incredible and rare tea with an appearance and taste that will dazzle the drinker! We recommend using 85-90C water to brew this wonderful tea. Wash once briefly (5 seconds) and then drink the successive infusions. Keep infusion times very short initially!

Reviews

luxurious, sophisticated and rich

"This is a rare tea, even among the exclusive ones. It captivates from the very beginning, from the appearance of the leaves to the last drop. This is not surprising - after all, it consists of unopened buds, that is, the most potent part of the plant. Such tea should not be drunk every day; it cannot be treated as a cheap thing."

Love it, thank you

"One of my fav black teas ever. Like warm baked chocolate bread. Comforting straight, but consider brewing a dual temperature concentrate and trying it in a tea latte with hot foamed milk. ."

So chocolatey, I love it.

"So chocolatey, I love it. Amazing flavor."

good tea

"A wonderful tea flavorful, cozy, and very pleasant to drink. From the first infusions it shows dessert-like notes something like holland butter waffles, baked pastries, or a gentle creamy dessert. The aroma wraps you in a soft, comforting warmth. The taste becomes deeper and sweeter with each brew, with the velvety sweetness that I especially love in red (black) teas. They always resonate with my Slavic heart there’s something warm, familiar, and home-like in them. The tea energy is lovely: smooth, relaxing, and uplifting. A perfect companion against autumn and winter blues. For this price, it’s truly a gift. Highly recommended."

Revised review - 5 star tea

"I want to revise my review. I have brewed this several more times and it blows me way. Truly delicious with no bitter note. This is a special tea. I need to sit on a tea longer before I review it."

Excellent!

"This tea is really excellent. The leaf quality is bar none, and the flavor is complex. The most overwhelming note it maltiness, with some chocolatey and creamy tones as compliments. The leaves are so aesthetically pleasing that I had to move this tea into a glass container on my tea table. The flavor is very similar to a high quality jin jun mei, but the leaf size is much larger. It's a go-to option now for a pick-me-up gong fu session. I get maybe 8-9 steeps before I find it so diminished that I dump the leaves."

Wonderful nose, sweet and malty

"Wonderful nose, sweet and malty. A bit of a bitter note on the after for me. YS Imperial Gold Bi Luo Chun of Feng Qing is similar and I prefer it."

Q&A

Should I expect a lot of difference between spring vs autumn harvest, or between different years? I truly loved the Autumn 2020 batch.
You should expect some differences. Always always order the smallest amount of a new harvest batch to try before committing to the purchase of a larger quantity.
How much of this tea do you recommend for each cup, and how long should I brew the first cup? How long should I brew the following cups for the best experience?
I'd recommend reading this page. There is a video on gong fu brewing as well. https://yunnansourcing.com/pages/brewing-guide-for-green-black-oolong-and-pu-erh-teas
