Si He Zhai? Never heard of it? That's because it doesn't exist. Our Si He Zhai (aka Four Harmonized Villages) tea cake is a blend of tea from four different villages, entirely from Spring 2016 first flush tea leaves!

Si He Zhai is a powerful tea that is intended for longer term aging. It has bitterness and astringency, but this is balanced by a textured, filling and lubricating mouth-feeling that stays with the drinker well after the tea session has ended. The aroma is strong and pungent and on a warm day will fill the room with it's nectar-like aroma. Being from old arbor and wild arbor tea trees the leaves are thick and stout and hold up well to multiple infusions. Stone pressed in the traditional manner, dried with low temperature drying process, individually wrapped in Dai minority hand-crafted paper and then meticulously packed into bamboo leaf tongs for collection and long-term storage. Si He Zhai is a powerful blended tea cake composed of high quality material but priced affordably for those who wish invest in high quality tea.

bitter up front, but not unpleasantly so.

"I got this as a free gift. It's got a bitter taste, but not unpleasantly so. Wet leaves have sweet apricot scent. I'm impressed, and will put a cake on my shopping list for a cake to put away for aging."

Dry apricots and Carmelized baked pie crust Review by Anonymous User

"DANK dry apricots smell with nuances of baked pie crust in the background. Apricots are my favorite fruit so I NEED this cake!!"

Peach pie delight!

"Received as a free sample and am I glad for it. Dry leaf smells of peach pie, wet leaf again peaches with a waft of smoke, but like the caramelized edges of pie crust. later infusions produced some floral tones before returning to peaches. Texture is full, creamy, buttery. Soup is light honey in color, reminding me of a school of bay anchovies shimmering on the surface of the ocean on a calm summer day. Empty cup hints at caramel. Tastes of peach pie and all of its goodness, cooked peaches, buttery crust, cinnamon. Has some bitterness, but like the slight bite of cinnamon and peach skins as you bite into a good juicy peach. The chi on this one takes me back to my grandma’s kitchen, where I had a drowsy feeling of being safe, content, and loved. What can I say, I absolutely adore this tea and will order some to put away and savor. Brewed 7.5g in a Jiang Po Ni pot."

Great tea!

"I received this as a free sample with my last order and am drinking it right now after just a few days of rest from shipping.. so maybe my impression is impacted by that, but I really like this tea! the first steep has a strong vanilla taste, afterwards its sweet vegetal, even a bit fruity in taste, followed by a nice astringency and bitterness. really nice! gaiwan lid smells like vanilla and i thought i got a tiny hint of smoke, but didnt find that in the taste. its very full in the mouth somehow and has a strong feeling. im sweating a little bit.. this is good tea."

Lovely raw tea

"A delicious tea. Bitterness up front but strong flowery underneath. Then spice and finally as the tea tapers off after many steepings, a sweet syrupy sugar cane lingering flavor kind of like the mouth feel one gets after eating artichoke hearts. The tea is rich and thick. Sometimes there is a faint vanilla taste around the edges. Highly recommended."
