Ba Ma village is in the northern reach of the Nan Nuo mountain range, not far from Gelanghe mountain in the county of Menghai.
This is the first Nan Nuo production Hai Lang has created since his 2005 Ba Ma Gong Chun. The material used was picked and processed completely under the supervision of Hai Lang himself to ensure a perfect outcome. The tea comes from 200 to 300 year old tea trees growing in a natural tea garden in Ba Ma village. The tea is first flush and is full of intensity and character, while at the same time has some soft floral notes and a sweet after-finish.
The other Hai Lang and I enjoyed drinking his "Ba Ma Gong Chun" and my Nan Nuo "Ya Kou" side by side. Both are pure wild arbor Nan Nuo, but Ba Ma is located in the northern area of Nan Nuo and Ya Kou in the south. Both shared that Nan Nuo lightness and floral character, while each had their own distinct ineffable character.
Total Production just 90 kilograms, all cakes are 400 grams and stone-pressed!
