This production has been the obsession of Hai Lang for 3 years. He laboriously purchased and stored enough Lao Man E spring harvested tea (mao cha) from Spring 2013, 2014, and 2015 to make enough for for a decent wo dui batch (wet piled fermentation technique used to make ripe tea).
Spring 2016 harvested tea leaves that are 100% sourced from Lao Man'E Village (Bu Lang Mountains) tea from older tea trees. Hai Lang has long been active in Lao Man'E, Lao Ban Zhang and other Bu Lang villages.
This production is entirely first flush of spring 2016 tea from Guang Bie village in the far north of the Bu Lang mountains near the Myanmar-Yunnan border. This particular Guang Bie tea is from two neighbors whose tea trees range from 80 to 140 years old growing naturally.
This is one of the highest quality Lao Ban Zhang that Hai Lang has ever produced. This years cake is made from first flush of spring material which was harvested from the oldest trees in Lao Ban Zhang village which are between 250 and 400 years old.
